Visiting Family in Melbourne

Tips and Tricks for Traveling

Shrine of Remembrance

So, you’ve decided to visit Melbourne Australia. Here are a few tips for the trip there and a few ways to make your stay there easier. When booking your ticket Premium Economy is the best option, I don’t think I’ve had this much leg room on a plane since I was 8 years old. And don’t get me started on the seat width or the relative quiet of the cabin (not perfect but it’s still an airplane). Also, the food actually tasted like a recognizable dish and came in legit ceramic dishes and is good quantity. Pay attention to the location and length of the layovers when you are booking your tickets as you could end up with a cheeped flight that leaves to in Hong Kong for over 14 hours stretching your total travel time to 40 hours (not even kidding this was an option).

Lots of colorful things to see and do!

Once you’ve had some recovery time from the trip to Melbourne there is much to see and do in and around the city. In central Melbourne there are many laneways (alleyways for those from the states) to wander down with all kinds of shops to explore and marvelous street art to capture. Amazing architecture is everywhere you look, sleek modern high-rises side by side with ornate Victorian buildings. Explore the many museums to learn all about the history and art of this city, the State of Victoria, and Australia as a whole. The Great Ocean Road can technically be done in a day, a very long and tightly scheduled day. I would recommend doing it in two as you will be able to take your time marveling at the splendor that are the various rock formations and the wide coastline vistas. Closer to your home base will be plenty of local shops to poke through and foods to try and maybe catch a rugby game on TV.
